Canadian Association of Private Lenders

The Canadian Association of Private Lenders is one of our valued, long-standing clients. The existing website we built for them few years ago no longer reflected the organization’s standing in the industry. As Canada’s regulatory voice for private lenders, CAPL needed a digital presence that could do more than just inform – it needed to actively convert visitors into members. The old site simply wasn’t enough to attract sophisticated audience of private lenders, MIC investors, mortgage brokers, and allied financial professionals.

The brief was clear: create a redesigned website that felt both refined and approachable, one that would build immediate trust with industry professionals while guiding them clearly toward membership.

Our Approach

We collaborated closely with UX and content strategist Vanessa Carpenter, who led the content architecture and user experience strategy. That insight shaped everything from the navigation structure to the individual page layouts.

The site needed to speak to a financially literate, regulation-conscious audience, so we didn’t want the design to feel corporate. After all, CAPL serves primarily private lenders. The design direction balances with the principles of good usability: a clean, confident visual identity that conveys credibility without feeling cold or institutional.

What We Did

UX & Information Architecture

Working closely with the client and Vanessa Carpenter, we restructured the site around audience personas. The “Who We Help” navigation model allows each visitor type to self-identify and land on a page tailored to their specific needs, services and webinars curated specifically for them.

Design & Page Layouts

We developed a visual system that paired a restrained, professional colour palette with warm, human photography reflecting CAPL’s dual identity as both a regulatory authority and a member community. Section layouts were designed to guide the eye naturally toward calls-to-action, with membership conversion as the primary goal on every key page.

Conversion Optimization

Membership growth was the core business objective. We structured the homepage and key landing pages to clearly communicate value at each stage: what CAPL does, who it serves, and why joining is worthwhile. Benefit-driven copy sections, a prominent membership CTA in the header, and a tiered membership overview were all designed to reduce hesitation and move prospects to act.

On-Page SEO

We optimized all pages for on-page SEO including title tags, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, and keyword-aligned content structure to improve organic discoverability among professionals searching for private lending compliance support, regulatory guidance, and industry associations in Canada.

The Result

The redesigned CAPL website presents the association as the trusted, authoritative hub it is for Canada’s private lending industry. The site cleanly communicates a broad range of services from compliance policy development and regulatory training to mortgage administration and expert litigation reports while keeping the membership conversion path front and centre throughout.

The updated design gives CAPL the professional credibility to attract the calibre of members the organization serves, and the clarity of structure to turn first-time visitors into engaged members.
